Prior to becoming a licensed realtor, Mike managed a team of environmental and historic preservation consultants for FEMA/Department of Homeland Security in New Orleans, Louisiana, in their recovery efforts post-Hurricane Katrina: his team of architects, architectural historians, archaeologists, and
environmental/wetlands specialists successfully reviewed over 50,000 properties within the State of Louisiana for which federal funding was sought. Upon demobilizing from the Louisiana Recovery Office, Mike was promoted to National Lead for his firm's historic preservation support to DHS, and he managed federal deployment requests and project oversight for up to 320 professional employees, nationwide, for federal project assignments with the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense.

 

Mike holds a Master's in Preservation Studies from Tulane University, where he earned the first known 4.0 in the history of the program. As an undergrad, he studied Architecture at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and matriculated with a B.A. in Urban and Regional Planning from the University at Albany. Verderosa first moved to Algiers Point in 2004 while a grad student at Tulane, and is currently renovating a home in Old Algiers, in which he plans to move (with his four rescued pitbull mixes) later this year.
